The Mysterious Case of the Vanishing Listings

Here are today's take on the Listings Pending Preview (a regular feature of this blog). I was very surprised when I noted the sharp decrease in the number of outstanding listings (almost 70 less than yesterday at almost half the value of yesterday). At first glance one would suspect that the Prosper loan-granting elves have been especially industrious, but that does not seem to be the case. So where are those other listings? Has Prosper cancelled them?

I checked on the numbers of cancelled listings, and only a few have been cancelled. I'm still trying to find a way to massage the data to account for the missing listings. Stay tuned.

Update: So I figured out what the problem was. The table above is now updated and should show the 177 loans pending verification. The problem arose because I had the Groups table included in my query, and that caused Access to create a join of the two tables, discarding all the listings that did not have a group.

My apologies to all of my readers.

I downloaded the data at 11:40am PST 1/3/07 and I got 176 pending review. I noticed 11 have closed 1/2/07.

The download dataset is typically refreshed after midnight each day. Yesterday's data is contained in a download file that was created at 4:04 am today. I think what you have is essentially in agreement with my data for 1/2/07.
